Local television will be coming to Birmingham in 2014 on Freeview Channel 8.
“It has been a year since we were award the Local-Digital Television Programme Service (L-DTPS) licence for Birmingham” said Debra Davis, Chief Executive. “We have been very quiet but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy! In fact, a lot of work has been going on in the background and you will see the results soon.
“We have continued to cultivate support from many organisations and businesses. We have been looking at sites to base our studios and offices in – and we continue to develop the very many aspects of our programme schedule.
“Comux UK was awarded the multiplex transmission licence in February by Ofcom. Based in Birmingham at the Science & Technology Campus of Birmingham Science Park, Comux UK are midway in installing the infracture for the national operations centre and secure antenna on transmission towers across the UK.
“A considerable amount of work has been done with other local licencees as part of the Local Television Network (LTVN). Working together has allowed us to share ideas as well as negotiate economies of scale.
“Stay tuned. City TV will be on-line and on air in mid-2014. Birmingham will be our living studio. And people in Birmingham will be both the audience and its stars. City TV will bring you the best Birmingham has to offer.”
